Dr. Tina McCrea is an Inspirational Talk Show Host & Coach, ordained Apostle, and CEO of WATM Cares, Inc. — a faith-based outreach network organization built on a simple conviction: we care about the people nobody thinks to check on.

Her platform began 17 years ago in broadcast media, from television production on WATC TV-Too to a decade hosting Tidbitz of Wisdom on Relationships on Sunday mornings across Kentucky, Indiana, and Chicago, and later Global Internet Truth of The Day with Coach Tina McCrea, hosted by S.N.A.P. w/TK and syndicated internationally. But the platform never stayed just a platform — it became the engine behind hands-on advocacy: weekly outreach to families in extended-stay motels along the Memorial Drive corridor in Stone Mountain, Georgia; the DeKalb County LEO Bag Project equipping law enforcement with resources for children and victims at domestic violence scenes; and a one-year term chairing the Policy Changes Committee for the DeKalb County Domestic Violence Task Force. Her advocacy reached the Georgia State Capitol, where she partnered with the Georgia Justice Project on a six-month legislative campaign to mandate danger risk assessments for law enforcement responding to domestic violence calls, and to strengthen protections for seniors in skilled nursing facilities.

In 2019, Dr. McCrea’s own family entered a different kind of crisis when her mother, Barbara Jean Metcalf, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As primary caregiver and medical power of attorney — alongside her husband Gary, brother Richard, and daughter Gina — she lived what UsAgainstAlzheimer’s calls the “panini generation,” caring for her mother while raising a teenager and working full-time as a Global Operations and Controls Governance leader at a Fortune 500 financial services company. Her mother passed away in June 2024, the same month Dr. McCrea retired.

That lived experience shapes her work today. Dr. McCrea is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and holds an honorary Doctorate of Christian Leadership (DCL) from United Graduate College and Seminary. As CEO of WATM Cares, Inc., she leads an organization that now includes both BJM Dementia Services, Inc. — named in her mother’s honor — and the GA Senior Care Network, Inc., supporting people living with dementia and their care partners while connecting families to community resources across Georgia. Through BJM’s partnerships with the Alzheimer’s Association, AARP Staying Sharp, the Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation, the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging (NEGRC AAA), and Newton County Senior Services, Dr. McCrea provides caregiver education, respite scholarships, and oversees the Newton Connections Memory Café — the only one of its kind in Newton County — as its Program Director. She hosts the 2nd Annual Dementia Education & Awareness Series each October and will join a national panel for the UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Summit this fall.

A 30+ year leader, coach, and advocate, Dr. McCrea has channeled her caregiving journey into a devotional and prayer journal and the mini-documentary Mama, Where Are You Going? Today, her daughter Gina — once the family’s “forgotten caregiver” —works by her side at WATM Cares, Inc., carrying the mission forward together. Dr. McCrea and her husband of over 27 years, Sr. Pastor Gary L. McCrea, reside in Covington, Georgia with their daughter, Gina.

Whether behind a microphone, at the State Capitol, or serving as a Navigator for caregivers on the journey of dementia, Dr. McCrea’s mission has never changed: to show up for the people nobody thinks to check on.
